I used to work for ICL (SA) from April 1978 to
December 1984, based first at Barclays Bank in Selby, Johannesburg
working first on VME/K then VME eventually. I moved to the Cape Town
office in 1981 to replace Roy Fulker, who left to return to the UK, at
the Southern Life Association. I started my own consultancy business
(don't we all?!) in 1985, EBE Computing which is a software company
focusing primarily on migrations from OpenVME to open systems. My first
contract was for 1 year at the Cape Town Municipality. Fortunately CTM
didn't find out I was useless (for 22 years!) and we finally lost
control of the site in May 2007 after their move to SAP was complete. We, together with our partners, have a full suite of products which enables us to complete a migration faster than many of our competitors. We had recognised the desire and/or need for companies to move off proprietary mainframes (ICL steadfastly refused to do so) we started developing OpenSCL in 1996. If anybody is interested in a demo copy of OpenSCL then please give me a shout on +2782 4503136 or email me and I'll point you in the right direction. Use your Back button to return to the list |
